Another day in Africa

It seems that the drudge of every day life gets worse as you get older...
When I was in my teens, I believed, like most of us I'm sure, that I was going to change the world.

I grew up in turbulent times... the 1980's in South Africa were dangerous times. The Apartheid regime was clinging to its last vestiges of power, determined to keep the "Swart and Rooi gevaar" from our doors.
I time when all public buildings had moulded pressed plastic representations of limpet mines and pipebombs to allow you to recognise them instantly should you spot one...
When a trip to the Mall meant having to pass through a metal detector, and parking in the mall meant your car was scanned underneath by a mirror on a pole to check for explosive devices.
